Lexington for Palestine

Who are we?

We are an open group gathered in a common purpose of connection to Palestine as a path to approaching justice in our communities and globally.

For some of us, this emerges through our multifaceted relationships to the region. For others, a central concern is US support of Israel, and human rights violations being committed by Israel against Palestinians. We also see the ways that the issues of justice in Palestine resonate with local, national and global human rights issues as defined in the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights, including equal treatment under law and freedom from discrimination based on race or ethnicity.

The catastrophe in Palestine impacts our own community, affecting how some of us are seen and heard. Our group seeks to make public space for respectful conversations in our schools and community and among our neighbors to promote mutual understanding, curiosity, respect, and fair treatment for all.

We stand against Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, anti-Arab racism, and anti-Palestinian racism, as we stand against all racisms. We see them as being historically and contemporarily interrelated, and believe we can best struggle against them when we recognize this. We are dedicated to making a space for all generations to explore their relationships to the region and to each other and to learn about issues of justice together. We are united in our commitment to imagining democratic, equitable, and peaceful futures in Israel/Palestine and beyond.
